Angela & Ren’s Prologue
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
“Ren proposed to me at the top of a peak in the Appalachian mountains. We hiked for hours to get to the summit through dense and beautiful terrain. He stowed the ring in our camera bag and asked me if I could get out a new battery when we had reached the top. When I opened the pack, I saw the ring box but didn’t understand what was happening until he was down on one knee.”
Angela & Ren are truly special people. They first contacted me a year ago in October with interest in wedding photography. Within days, they booked. This was the first time that complete strangers had hired me by finding my work online. Their story was beyond delightful. After Ren proposed, they made phone calls to friends and family, excited out of their minds. And then it began to rain, and they ran down the mountain laughing and sloshing through puddles. As they descended, they talked about their wedding and the rest of their lives together.
Angela & Ren’s Prologue began at The Last Bookstore in downtown Los Angeles. The second floor of the store is a labyrinth of bookshelves. We had plenty of time to share with one another about books we loved, and about writing. Angela and Ren have so much in common, and so much in common with me, that everything just sort of clicked. While at first contact they were complete strangers, as I said, now I count them as friends.
We ended their Prologue by walking around their Silver Lake neighborhood, and stopped for dinner at a place called WOOD Handcrafted Pizza. There we chatted about life and books and movies and writing. We talked about writing quite a lot.
You cannot plan for clients like this to come through your door. But sometimes it just sort of happens. And you can do nothing but be thankful for it.
So thank you, Angela and Ren :)
